1919 White Sox (The New York Times)

Thesis Statement

In the early 1900’s, baseball was America's pastime, without a lot of money. Several players took action to make some of their own. Players on the 1919 White Sox allegedly threw the World Series for money. However, even though some say that the White Sox of 1919 threw the World Series, there is evidence that says otherwise. Nevertheless, the MLB immediately took action after the scandal; there were many diverse rules put in place to stop this from happening again. Two years later, the eight players involved were permanently banned from playing Major League Baseball.
