THESIS STATEMENT
In spite of the conflict-filled history between the European Americans and the Native Americans, Navajo men broke and created barriers by answering the militaryβs request for help during WWII. Navajo warriors felt that it was their duty to join the military to protect their motherland. They created an unbreakable code that was key to the American victory in the Pacific. The Navajo Code Talkers and the Americans united for the common goal of defeating the enemy. The Navajo Code Talkers have a complex story that illustrates that creating as well as breaking barriers can have positive and negative impacts.
