Japan: The Unrelenting Nation of WWII

In the midst of WWII, the nation of Japan fought a gruesome war against the Allied nations, even though the population was struggling to survive. The Japanese thought that their race was superior, much like Germany's Nazism, so they wanted to expand their empire. The Japanese had a nation-wide belief that if they were engaged in war, they were required to fight hard and even to the death if necessary. While many nations, such as Great Britain, turned against Japan and started attacking them, Japanese citizens suffered for their military’s actions. America felt it needed to end this war and save many lives.

Revenge was another motive. Because Japanese planes ruthlessly bombed Pearl Harbor, killing many unsuspecting American soldiers and civilians alike, America felt it needed to respond in a brutal and ruthless return.  America  threatened to use force against Japan to end the war for good.

Peter Kuznick, a well-known college professor from American University in Washington D.C., stated that WWII was a good war because it needed to happen.

Kuznick said, “This is a war that the United States actually needed to fight at stopping fascism, Nazism, and Japanese imperialism. These things were so much in humanity’s interest that the United States had to fight this war, and probably should have gotten involved earlier.”
