Revolution and Reaction

The Transcontinental Railroad was revolutionary because it changed how people can travel through America and help people travel faster throughout America. The new rail connection eventually made it possible to travel in a train car from New York to San Francisco in just a week’s time. It helped turn California from a once-isolated place to a major economic and political force and helped lead to the state’s rapid growth (History.com). The reaction to the transcontinental was that it increased interest in the west and caused people to enjoy the railroad (“The Transcontinental Railroad”). People loved the Transcontinental Railroad because it gave them more places to live (History.com).
