Picture of baby Elizabeth Blackwell,
This is how Elizabeth Blackwell, the first women in history, got to be the first woman doctor. Before she did, all doctors were men, meanwhile the women are expected to stay home and “work” there. Yes, some women worked for hospitals and clinics, but they were assistants instead of doctors themselves. This was involved into the women’s rights movement and equality. This also happened during slavery, where black people were slaves to white people. Though this was happening, Elizabeth still got her M.D. degree and she opened a clinic for girls. Soon after, more women started working there and getting their M.D. as well. Now, women can be doctors too.
