Passing the Limits

Toy Story was a frontier in the animated movie industry for being the first fully 3D computer generated film. With new technology created by Pixar, they were able to create movies in a completely new way. Creating and animating models, adding everything, like textures and colors, and rendering the full film was much easier using the new software. Previous to Pixar's 3D animation breakthrough, traditional animated films were 2D, and were hand drawn. The process was a lot longer, and it took some time for each individual frame to be rendered and processed. After the production of Toy Story, many newly 3D animated films were created in its footsteps. Even today, the majority of movies use CGI or 3D animation in their films. Popular companies like Dreamworks and Sony use 3D animation to create their movies, and even Disney swtiched from 2D to 3D animation pretty quickly.
