Short Term Effects
With the release of Toy Story, it won many awards. These included Special Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score, Best Orignal Song, Best Original Screenplay, an Annie Award for Best Individual Achievement: Production Design, and a PGA Special Award of Merit. The screenwriter for Toy Story, John Lasseter, also recieved a Special Achievement Oscar from from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Long Term Effects
Toy Story went on to gross more than $358 million worldwide, it also led to the creation of tons of merchandise and toys. The movie recieved three sequels and a spin-off film over the years. Toy Story helped inspire numerous other computer generated imagery (CGI) films, and helped boost both Pixar / Disney's popularity.
