Right after the match between King and Riggs people automatically thought that the game was rigged by the mob. They thought that Riggs wanted her to win. Riggs stated after the match that, “She was too good, too fast. She returned all my passing shots and made great plays off them… I was trying to play my game, but I couldn't.” Now that society doesn’t believe all women should stay at home, tennis activism has shifted from changing public opinion to challenging policy. As a result of billie’s arguing the U.S. open became the first major tournament to offer equal prize money to both sexes. Now all four grand slams offer equal prize money for men and women. Later that same year the campaign for equal pay gained international attention. “Had I lost, women’s tennis would have suffered, Title IX could have been hurt and the women’s movement would have been damaged,” King said today in an email. “I knew it was very important I win the match if I wanted people to take women’s tennis, and women seriously” expressed King. Unfortunately, on October 25th 1995 Riggs died of Prostate Cancer. When he was diagnosed for Prostate Cancer in 1994 he made a foundation named the Bobby Riggs Tennis Muesem Foundation in awarness to the disease he had. Riggs and King had a few last words together and King had said "Bobby, I want you to know, I love you a lot." Riggs replied with, "Billie, I love you too and we did something big together." These two competators would have a match on debate for their whole lives from accusations to rumors to the match itself. Did Riggs try to rigg the match for the prize money?
