Multiple Perspectives

There were many different views about digital privacy. From the government, to an U.S. citizen, everybody had unique thoughts about digital privacy. The government had many databases that actively collected information without permission. The government liked this system, because they could know everything about anybody without the person even realizing it. Citizens had many issues with the system because they had no ability to access or change the information stored.

The different types of data that is collected

The Privacy Act of 1974 ensured that no corporation, nor the government, could collect data without reason or consent. This was unfortunate for many corporations because they could no longer collect or sell data without informing citizens of what they were doing. The Privacy Act was very beneficial for most citizens because it allowed them to know what information the government was storing and be able to change any misinformation the government might have collected.
