Why Did Tony Verna Make Instant Replay

In the 1950s, the television replaced the radio as the main broadcasting system. Many people thought of ways to make television improve, but Tony Verna was one of the key people in making broadcasting better. One of Tony Verna’s major goals in creating the video recorder project was to make sports rise in popularity. Tony had thought about something like this for years and wanted to make it real.

Tony just wanted people to see plays a second time if they missed it. Instant replay concentrated on plays of possession, like fumbles, catches, and more. Most of the plays that are reviewed are sidelines, goal lines, and the line of scrimmage.
