Sylvia Rivera was also a drag queen, transgender gay activist, and founded the organization STAR, to help gay, trans, and gender-fluid youths. When she was younger, she was kicked out by her grandmother and became a child prostitute living on the streets. During this tough time, a group of drag-queens were able to help and support her into what she considers herself now. Sylvia didn't want to constantly do police raid procedures, so for her the Stonewall riot was suddenly was a moment worth fighting for instead of keeping up with oppression. Her position in the Stonewall Riots was supposedly throwing the second molotov cocktail.
