At night, people who were at Stonewall and other local supporters who received the revolt message threw beer bottles, pennies, and homemade firebombs at the police. They taunted police by calling them “pigs” until police became more violent threatening to shoot. Howard Smith and Lucian Truscott IV (Village Voice June 24, 2009) described how people barricaded themselves inside the Stonewall Inn to not get brutally shot by the cops.
Despite 13 people getting arrested, the Stonewall Inn reopened the same night. A protest was made and the continuous chant of "Support Gay Power" attracted June 28th's previous crowd. This scene was on radio news announcements and New York media which attracted more supporters. The crowd went down to Christopher Street to Seventh Avenue enjoying the feeling of gay power.

"A lot of heads were bashed in that night, a lot of people were hurt, But - they all came back for more... and more. That's when you could tell that nothing could stop us at that time, or anytime in the future"
