The Long term impact of these songs is that they evolved into protest songs of 19th century and continues till date. Various musical genres started to develop from slave songs and integrated into larger artistic contexts. They were swiftly abstracted from their original source and turned into the blues, jazz and pop. The Negro Spirituals played a critical role in the creation of America's unique musical language. 


Harriet Tubman’s communication through music made a huge historical impact on African American lives and history. Harriet successfully delivered over two hundred people to freedom. Achieving freedom and equality for African-Americans, was closely linked to the changes in the early history of Civil Rights and aided to women's rights in the future.

They represent the first recorded utterances from a people in bondage. Now, people are familiar with pop, jazz, the blues and many more genres. Many of these originated from negro spirituals. What Harriet Tubman started, continues in present day as well, music is used as a means of communication to the world about any injustice happening in the society.
