Culture and language are very intertwined. In order to be able to communicate with a different specific group of people, understanding of the culture is an important element. Historically, translators were regarded highly, as they were the only source of being able to understand another langauge. They were able to bring people of different cultures together through language.

Culture, especially language, has the power to bring people together. This aspect is emphasized in Korea. Moon Jae-in, the president of South Korea has stated many times that the North and South are connected through the shared culture. A very famous Korean proverb "가재는 게 편이라" (The crawfish sides with the crab), meaning the two creatures share many traits and so would side with each other. In other words, this implies that people with similar backgrounds usually stick together, which once again emphasizes this idea of how shared similarities bring people together and only strengthen the relationship between them.
