The influence of Lamarr’s innovative invention is known widely throughout the world. “The Electronic Frontier Foundation jointly awarded Lamarr and Antheil with their Pioneer Award in 1997. Lamarr also became the first woman to receive the Invention Convention’s Bulbie Gnass Spirit of Achievement Award” (Cheslak). Also, posthumously she “was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014” (Ignotofsky 69). Because of their work in frequency hopping “Joyce Bedi of the Smithsonian’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation points out, ‘Wireless communications using variable signals—have arisen, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS’” (George).
