"Electron microscope developed in 1930" Science Direct 1930

The creation of the vaccine for the influenza significantly influenced many of the world’s medical advancements that are widely used today (Harris). Years after the pandemic, virologists, including Richard Shope, tested previously used methods on pigs infected with swine flu to identify the virus. From there, researchers discovered the relationship between human and swine flu. During their investigations, scientists developed the electron microscope, which was used to view the small particles making up the influenza. As they researched, they discovered a new way to grow the influenza virus, instead of obtaining it through people infected with the virus. Following that achievement, scientists were able to recognize two different flu viruses which they later classified as “A” and “B”. Supplied with that information, researchers began the process of creating a vaccine. After the creation of the vaccine, it was distributed to the public in 1945 (“Medical Innovations…”).
