"The Spanish Influenza Virus" History.com 1918

There are many factors that contributed to the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. The main component of the flu virus was the H1N1 virus. The H1N1 virus, which was swine flu, was closely related to the influenza virus that caused the pandemic. In November of 1918, the first world war was coming to an end. The war caused great instability in Europe, which aided the spread of the disease to other nations (“Medical Innovations…”). The transfer of U.S. soldiers from other countries into the United States was one of the main contributors to the spread of the pandemic (Harris).
