Timeline
- March 4 1918, a cook at a military camp reported a 104 degree fever beginning the first phase of one of the deadliest flu pandemics in history.
- August 22 1918, a second, deadlier phase of the pandemic begins (Harris).
- September 26 1918, Washington D.C. sends a directive to the public on the procedures of treating the virus ("Influenza Directive...").
- Summer of 1919, flu takes its final toll on patients and the death rates all over the world begin to decrease ("Spanish Flu Pandemic Ends").
- 1931, scientists research the influenza virus, developing new medical tools along the way, including the electron microscope.
- 1937, scientists test a newly made vaccine on the military.
- 1945, the flu vaccine was introduced and given out to the public ("Medical Innovations...").
- 2019, the Coronavirus pandemic begins to spread taking a small toll on the current population.
- 2024, today, the flu vaccine is given out to the public through an injection which researchers hope will prevent another flu pandemic (Harris).
