There were a lot of goals that the UDHR wanted to achieve, including, “the right to be free from torture, the right to freedom of expression, the right to education and the right to seek asylum.” The Napoleonic Code was similar to the basic structure of the UDHR, which helped build UDHR by the draftees in addition to using the Geneva Convention.
The UDHR was characterized by a collaborative process that aimed to integrate various national interests and cultural norms. This collaborative spirit stressed the urgency of establishing a common pattern for human rights, as delegates worked to incorporate more than only western ideals, including prospects for non-western nations that contributed to a more universal character for the declaration.
