Once they joined the MLB, anybody could see the games, but African Americans had their bleachers away from the whites. White fans and players were racist toward the African American players. Whites hoped that black Americans would fail and quit and everything would stay the same so that baseball would only be played by them.
Some of the whites liked what the African Americans were doing, such as some normal white people and the Brooklyn Dodgers owners and bosses. Some of the people who didn’t like it were the players who played with them, MLB fans, and most importantly other players and managers from other teams.
The KKK got involed. They threatened African Americans by putting coffins in front of their houses wherever African Americans traveled to play to scare them off. KKK also created a baseball team to embarrass the Negro baseball teams.
