Reaction: Initiatives
As a reaction to the state of African American healthcare, Alexander led numerous initiatives to better public health and medical education for African Americans.
She spearheaded an interracial team, conceived, and co-directed to study social, economic, and health issues in North Philadelphia.

Alexander promoted community-based health associations such as the National Youth Administration, and the Works Progress Administration, who held prejudice against her.

In response to the issues in Black education, Dr. Alexander sought to create opportunities for historically marginalized students.

She was one of the founders of the Fellowship house.
She was a role model to Black female medical students.
