This study analyzes statistical data to conclude that poor living conditions directly contributed to the afflictions of African Americans.

This study focused on the health issues of Black patients and doctors in North Philadelphia and proved that targeted preventive care and health education could significantly improve health outcomes for Black adolescents.

Dr. Alexander’s 1935 report exposed severe social, economic, and health disparities in North Philadelphia that drove her push for reform. Black students were being blocked from training in hospitals, showing that racismβ€”not a lack of skillβ€”was the real reason there were so few Black doctors.
