Influence

Every child was treated fairly and equally and was able to learn together in the same school which was a significant influential impact for children and their parents (“Brown v. the Board of Education”). The Supreme Court declared the doctrine of “separate but equal” unconstitutional and gave Legal Defense Fund the most celebrated victory in the organization’s storied history of fighting for civil rights (“Brown v. the Board of Education”). Linda Brown had a multi-year fight for the equality of children and to persuade all nine justices to overturn the “separate but equal” doctrine (“Brown v. the Board of Education”). She and her father were not the only people trying to have equal rights for their children, the Brown v. the Board of Education case was a coordinated group of five lawsuits against school districts, with states such as Virginia, Delaware, South Carolina, and Washington D.C. From that group of states that sued and took the case to the Supreme Court, many schools were influenced to become segregated around the world (“Brown v. the Board of Education”).
