The Sex Pistols
Green Day
21st Century

I love music, especially punk rock. I find it interesting because the musicians are able to tell people really bluntly how they feel without getting severe backlash. Of course, everyone has opinions and there will be people challenging yours. But Punk Rockers usually have the “punk persona”. They act like they don't care and just brush the comments off. It also is a really smart way to get your point across because the songs usually are big hits and everybody has at least heard it once. I think the appealing thing for me is that the meaning of the song can be so loud that everybody can hear it or it could be hidden by a beautiful melody.

I have looked all over the internet for relevant sites. I have found some cool and informational ones. I read all of my sources and took notes on the parts that I wanted to include. I also listened to some of their songs and found meaning that I thought closely related to this year's theme. The pictures and the quotes are supposed to relate to what was happening at the time and the slide/section. I also used Noodle Tools to help sort all of my sources. It was a really neat and easy way to organize my information.

I gathered all of the information that stuck out to me and started to write my paragraphs. Then I split up the paragraphs to make them shorter and more manageable to read. I found some pictures and quotes that correlated to the topic of the slide. After that, I put everything into the NHD website maker. I organized the information, added color, and fonts.

Throughout history, grunge culture, started by punk rock bands like The Sex Pistols and Green Day, has influenced and brought together people who felt like their voices, were not being heard, influencing people to start speaking out no matter the repercussions.

I think music in general has had a huge influence on people throughout history. Music is essentially poetry with riffs and beats, spilling emotion by talking or singing. Music has been around for thousands of years. It is a way to express yourself if you feel uncomfortable talking. Sometimes people are just too scared to say what they want and they write it down and it turns into a song. They produce that song and other people hear it and they feel the same way. It goes around and more and more people know that someone else feels the same way.
