Title IX created an impact by allowing women to have their own sports teams and educational spaces ("Education Amendment of 1972"). The year after Title IX was passed in 1973, more scholarships to college were given out from larger schools, more money for equipment and uniforms for women were given to schools, and it allowed for more travel schedules so smaller schools would not have to play larger schools (Winslow). By schools receiving this it finally allowed women to start competitively playing sports and enrolling in colleges. By the time Title IX was mandatory in 1975, three years later in 1978, six times the amount of women played in high school sports than in 1970 before the act was made (Pruitt). Women were beginning to make their mark on and in athletics.
