"Famous photo of Tesla with his coil producing a large number of sparks in the laboratory" Century Magazine 1899"

Before 1891, in the 17th century, ideas about electricity started to emerge (Tesla). Soon before in 1864, James Clerk Maxwell created some of the first laws of electricity, with Heinrich Hertz further proving these laws in 1887 (Kraakman). 26 years earlier, when Nikola Tesla was 10, he entered an institution with physics, as well as having both electrical and mechanical designs, fascinating Nikola Tesla (Tesla). In 1891, in the drawings of the first Tesla Coil, Nikola Tesla used iron cores, granting immense power, but low stability, being a major drawback (Kraakman). Some scientists loved the idea, with the sparks reaching 5 feet (Tesla). Nikola Tesla soon reformed the Tesla Coil, to carry more volts, have no iron cores, and to be cone shaped, being one of the first major steps in the Tesla Coil's existence (Kraakman).
