Benjamin O. Davis Jr.

Benjamin O. Davis was the commander of the Tuskegee Airmen. Davis overcame the racial segregation and unfair treatment that he receved in college and continued to become perhaps one of the greatest military leaders in World War II. Benjamin O. Davis wanted to serve in the Air Force, but was prevented from doing so by segregation laws. Eventually, there was a need for more pilots, and the nation resulted to forming an African American unit. Davis led this unit, the Tuskegee Airmen, and helped train his fellow airmen to become some of the most skilled pilots in the war. He would go on to help President Truman end segregation in the air force in 1948, and he was the first ever African American two star major general.
