
Damage from Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was a category five hurricane, raging throughout Louisiana and small parts of texas over the course of a week and a half. The hurricane status started off at a Category One storm in Miami on August 25. August 26 the storm became a Category Two hurricane, August 28th, the hurricane became a Category Three and ended as a Category Five on August 29th, 2005 with winds ranging from sixty to around one hundred and sixty miles per hour. The President at the time was George W.Bush, who as the storm raged on was vacationing in Texas, not concerned about the severity of the situation. Congress debated whether or not their funds were sufficient to fund and support the Louisiana Government. Congress debated on how the US government should attack the situation. To this day, Hurricane Katrina still affects the lives of the residents of New Orleans, with areas still not having been rebuilt.
