Journey Before the War

Capturing the War

Life After War

Our Research

Catherine Leroy had a huge impact on not just her life, but others' too. She put her life in danger to capture photographs of moments during the Vietnam War of soldiers fighting for their lives and country. Her famous photograph "Corpsman in Anguish" captures a soldier leaning over his friend while smoke is rising up from the battle behind them, near Khe Sanh. This moment is cemented in Leroy's mind, as well as the solder's. She captured the soldier realizing his fellow man had just died from being shot. When this picture was chose to be put on LIFE Magazine, it made people realize what all was going on in Vietnam. It made it surreal to the people viewing the picture.

Catherine Leroy also captured moments of the enemies from Vietnam's side. This shows how Catherine Leroy had such a passion to

break barriers by not only capturing moments from her side, but also the other. She wanted to capture as many images as she could

to portray the war through an outside point of view.
