"Prime Minister Winston Churchill Walking though Ruins of Coventry Cathedral Which Was Bombed by the Germans in 1940" (Horton).
Winston Churchill’s speech “We Shall Fight on the Beaches” positively impacted the allied forces and their communities. When Churchill delivered his speech, he did not attempt to deny that the Battle of Dunkirk was won by the Germans or try to maximize the success of the Dunkirk Evacuation (“A Brave Speech”). However, Churchill reassured the communities that he would do every action in his power to win World War II. “We Shall Fight on the Beaches” was also a chance for Winston Churchill to make his first formal public appearance to the United States of America. He did this to persuade the United States to fight alongside the allied forces in World War II. Churchill relayed the message of hope, honesty, and confidence when he said, “We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end,” which brought a sense of relief to the allied community and forces (Churchill).
