Influence

(National WWII Museum).

Several years after the speech “We Shall Fight on the Beaches” was given, it conclusively influenced the last battle of World War II, the Battle of Okinawa. On April 01, 1945, the Battle of Okinawa began, involving the United States against Japan. The battle continued for three months before the United States proved victorious on June 22, 1945 (National WWII Museum). When Winston Churchill said “In God’s good time, the New Worlds, with all its power and might, step forth to rescue and the liberation of the old,” he promised that with time the Allied forces would win World War II, and so they did (Churchill).
