("Rosa Parks Sitting on a Bus")
Influence
Rosa Parks influenced the Supreme Court to rule segregation unconstitutional. “Back in Montgomery, the written order from the U.S. Supreme Court arrived on December 20, and the following day we returned to buses”. When the U.S. Supreme Court examined more closely what was happening they declared segregated buses unconstitutional. After this the black people of Montgomery started returning to the buses, sitting wherever they wanted to and not being forced out of their seats. The white people of Montgomery didn’t want the black people to sit wherever they wanted, so they started a white-only bus line where only whites could ride on certain buses, but it didn’t work so they had to shut it down. Parks wanted all blacks to have freedom, so she fought against segregation laws. When the Supreme Court noticed Rosa Parks they decided to rule that segregation in the South was unconstitutional.
