Timeline

 1913 - Rosa Parks was born. 

 1932 - Parks married Raymond Parks. 

 1955 -  Parks was arrested for refusing to move from her seat on a segregated bus. 

 1955 - Bus Boycott begins. 

1956 -  Parks lost her job.

1956 - Bus Boycott ends.

1963 -Participated in the March on Washington for jobs and freedom.

1979 - Awarded the NAACP Spingarn Medal. 

1987 - Founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development. 

1992 - Published her autobiography with Jim Haskins, Rosa Parks: My Story. 

1999 - Parks was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. 

2005 - Died in Detroit, Michigan; lay in honor in the United States Capitol Rotunda
