Reaction and Reform
"Ethnic groups protesting antisemitism" BBC
Anne's family tried their best to avoid the growing hatred of Jews, but the rabbi of the synogouge the Franks went to heard that there would be many Jewish people that were to be sent to labor camps (Anne Frank House). The rabbi posted a list in the synogouge for Jews to see, and the Franks found that Margot was on the list of deportees and reacted by quickly moving into the annex that Otto had been furnishing for that very moment (Anne Frank House). Despite the assistance the "annex helpers" had given them, the Franks and the other Jewish people hiding with them were caught before the war ended and were distributed to concentration camps where all the people hiding in the annex died except for Otto Frank (Anne Frank House). Otto was depressed to find out he was the only one in his family who survived, but later one of the helpers had given him a few keepsakes that they had found after the Franks had been caught (Anne Frank House). One of these items was Anne's diary. Otto read his daughter's book, he read her dreams of becoming a writer, he read Anne's stories, Otto was deeply touched by all Anne had written and was determined to show the world her story (Popowcyz). Otto did all he could to show the world the dangers of racism. His hard work eventually paid off and the Secret Annex was made into a muesum and visitors learned about the Holocaust, and afterwards the world was reformed by Anne Frank's story (Anne Frank House).
