Introduction
In August 1945 the first atomic bombs were dropped on Japan. This was due to the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project revolutionized warfare, as well as other fields, such as science, technology, and medicine. The idea came from scientists Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard. They wrote a letter to U.S. President Roosevelt on August 2, 1939. The letter informed him about a new device more powerful than regular bombs ("Destroyer of Worlds..."). When the bombs were dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the reactions between both countries differed, most U.S. citizens were overjoyed, and were happy with its effect on Japan, while others such as those who worked on the Manhattan Project and others were saddened by the unecessary destruction and death and didnβt agree with the bombs. The reform this caused was the end of the Pacific War and the end of The Second World War (βSurrender of Japan 1945β). The impact of the Project was the end of World War Two and started the Cold War, a race for nuclear arms.ββββββββββββββ
