"Nagasaki, Japan under atomic bomb attack"

(Library of Congress)

The Manhattan Project took place from 1942-1945 (β€œManhattan Project). The Manhattan Project was revolutionary because it changed warfare and science forever. Reactions to the Manhattan Project  were mixed, some people were happy about the bombs because they knew it would end the war, but also get revenge for the attack on Pearl Harbor (Kelly,150). Others opposed it because morally it was cruel or unjust.  The reforms were great, multiple acts were passed to put limits on nuclear bombs, such as the Atomic Energy act of 1946 which gave the government full control over nuclear materials (August 1, 1946: Atomic Energy Act). β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹
