The China government did not compromise at all with the protesters. Instead of peacefully relocating or moving the protesters, the government forcefully put an end to the protests. After the massacre, the government changed the laws, and made them more severe, not the way the protesters wanted. The government created a law on the ban of assemblies, processions, and demonstrations. This law was called the: Law of 1989 Regulation of Assemblies, Processions and Demonstrations.

The Chinese government got scared that things like this would happen again. So the CPC confiscated images and videos from the foreign journalists. The CPC even banned some of the foreign journalists from China. Journalists, that lived in China that were sympathetic toward the protesters were fired from their positions. All of this helped to hide the incident today.
