On June 5, 1989, a anonymous civilian, nicknamed "Tank Man," stood up to a row of tanks moving through the area. He attempted to stop the tanks from bringing an end to the remaining protesters' "road to democracy". His attempt to halt the tanks symbolized the determination of the Chinese people (and their diplomatic beliefs) who stood up to the strong government.
