"Deaf students learning in their social studies class"History and Cogswell Heritage House

Over many years, the importance of the Institut National de Jeunes Sourds de Paris has grown in many ways. The school helped its students to be recognized as people who were just as capable as other people their age who weren’t deaf (De L'Epee). If the school would not have opened, it would have taken longer for people in Europe to reform their views about the deaf (Clerc 3). The school helped to change the world and without the methods, making people’s mindset that deaf people could not do as much as non-deaf people change after many years (“Charles”). After the school opened many different countries opened schools for deaf people using the National Institute for deaf Youth in Paris’ methods (“Charles”).
