Tuskegee in Indiana

Impact

The Tuskegee Airmen impacted aviation history by becoming arguably the most dominant fighters of World War II. For example, The Tuskegee Airmen shot down or damaged thirty-six German planes mid-air and destroyed 237 planes on the ground. Also, they destroyed almost 1,000 train cars or transportation vehicles on the ground, having thirty-two soldiers captured as prisoners of war, and only having to face sixty-six fatalities, whether that be in air or on the ground ("Tuskegee Airmen..."). Additionally, they flew over one-hundred and fifty escort missions and only let twenty-seven bombers go down (Haulman).
