"Harriet Tubman Mural" Rosato, Michael

Tubman’s reaction to the atrocities of slavery led her to join the Underground Railroad, where she greatly impacted the movement. She first led her sister's family to freedom as a conductor of the Underground Railroad (“Harriet Tubman”). Later in 1857, Tubman brought her parents to Canada (“Harriet Tubman”). During her time involved in the Underground Railroad, Tubman took thirteen potentially hazardous trips into slavery territory and led approximately seventy slaves to freedom (“Harriet Tubman”). Along with bringing all those slaves to freedom, Tubman gave personal advice to as many as sixty other slaves escaping to the north (“Harriet Tubman”). In addition to the tireless work Tubman put in during her time in the Underground Railroad, she also worked effortlessly in the civil war. During the River Raid, Tubman helped an estimate of seven-hundred fifty enslaved African Americans (Dawson). Tubman truly did have a major impact on the Underground Railroad.
