All individuals have equal rights, and as such, everyone should honor their own rights in a spirit of brotherhood and mutual respect. All individuals are entitled to human rights without discrimination based on race, color, sex, language, religion, political opinions, or their origin. Besides, no one should be judged based on the political or international status of their country, regardless of whether it is independent or not (The Universal Declaration of Human Rights)

The drafters of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights made the document knowing they had to consider many elements, such as past events, opinions, and the ways people are treated around the world (“Universal Declaration of Human Rights”). The Universal Declaration of Human Rights needed to promote peace, and ensure that all people will be fairly treated; this had to be guaranteed for each individual, no matter what race, sex, religion, language, or political opinions (“Universal Declaration of Human Rights”). Laws and policies also had a role in the writing of this document, the drafters  had to include the rules and regulations that protect human rights. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights ensures safety and equality for every individual no matter who they are; it considers all events, opinions, how people were treated, constitutions, laws, and treaties and protects all human rights (Roosevelt).
